![]() ![]() It's really a great game and one of my favorites. I've really enjoyed the past year or more seasons of D3 and I've come back to it several times. TL DR: I played D2R for the 1st time and had many issues with core gameplay aspects of it, I appreciate the groundwork that this game laid so that we could have games like Diablo 4, but I would never choose D2R over Diablo 3 or 4. Especially on the Diablo 2 sub lol I just wanted to add my experience with the game in the short 6 hour game sessions else had. My point above are all my own and I don’t expect others to agree with me. That’s just my take on it as someone who never played the OG. Overall I won’t scold this game too harshly. Stamina in any other videogame other than milsim and hardcore games has no place it it and once again only slows down gameplay. I couldn’t imagine playing this online back in the day and someone taking my loot after a long hard boss fight. That just slows down gameplay and takes up important inventory space imo Totally unnecessary) and sell things that would have been good for other party members. Is one of the worst loot systems I’ve ever seen and it even caused infighting at a few points where ppl would get loot, instantly go back to town (also why tf do I need a scroll to go back to town and also to identify things. It took up way too much screen real estate and should have been a feature to put it in the bottom left like a regular mini-map is. ![]() The overlay aspect of it got in the way constantly and I found that if it wasn’t up at all times it was even harder to navigate the world space. Also the way spells are skill shots and have to be aimed is just, ew, I cast mystic bolt 4 times into a doorway lmfao.Īlso the map (even after I repositioned it) is just probably the worst way I’ve ever seen a map be used in a game. The lackluster animations really made it hard to gauge what I was doing or how much damage I was doing. Like hitting an enemy and not really knowing if I was hittting them or not. My biggest grip was the real lack of feedback on what my character was doing. I kept my mouth shut and wasn’t gonna be “that guy”. I had som pretty big issues with it when we first started playing that I think modern gaming has kinda spoiled me with and I tried to not let it effect the game session. So I loaded it in (we had a full 8 stack btw) I was a paladin. And they wanted us to all dip out toes in it with Diablo 4 just being released. They played it a lot back when he was younger. This game was a huge corner, stone of gaming for my friend and his dad. We had a gaming party, and the flavor of the day was D2R. I had this same sort of scenario happen this last Saturday. Fix those and the AH, even RMAH, would've been much more palatable. The main problem of release D3, pre-nerfs, wasn't the stats on the items - it was the absurd rarity and imbalance between act drops. You had to choose between defensive and offensive stats and different builds were good for different things.Īnd everyone was playing the same game to find good drops, sell them on AH, and buy better equips for their build. How much MF did you want? Resources like mana, rage, et cetera mattered. ![]() You needed to balance Int, Str, AR, Armor, LoH/LL for bulk. 1H builds hit fast but weaker, often generated more LoH and allowed you to kite better, especially with primaries. 2H builds hit slow but hard and were more resource efficient. You had to balance crit chance, crit damage, weapon damage, +damage, and attack speed to maximize your damage. Incrementally upgrading gear isn't itemization, or at least all that's involved in itemization, it's progression and modern D3 probably does it best out of all current Diablo games. I just can't say Diablo 2 gave me a way better experience than Diablo 3. I had fun with a class I loved, a weapon I loved, and skills I loved. Then Diablo 3 came out and I picked Demon Hunter : No ammos, no mana pots, no stamina, no freeze spam on bosses so you can kite and play your spacing. I played a Trapsin for the rest of the lifespan of old D2 and it was better for everyone except me. My friends were cool enough to wait for me in baal runs when I did this, so I was not really far behind. I played Javazon for a year, but I did not want to play it, the QoL was horrible, I had to always go back and forth from town to battle just to buy mana pots and repair my javelins so I can litterally start to play the game again. The problem is that this build is on the razor sharp edge of being bricked because of the lack of money (you need it to buy mana pots and ammos) and also the lack of DPS because this build falls off really hard in high levels.Īs there was no maxroll.gg in that time, I had to try a lot of things just to have a "viable" build to play something I wanted with my friends having a blast with a class they loved. ![]() I always wanted to play archer, so bowazon.
